Understand a loan offer before you decide
A practical checklist for comparing a lender's written offer. This general information is not financial, legal or tax advice.
Compare the full cost, not only the instalment
A monthly EMI is only one part of a loan. Ask the lender for the annual interest rate, processing and other charges, total amount repayable, repayment schedule, late-payment charges and any conditions that apply. Compare offers using the same amount and tenure where possible.
Use the EMI calculator to estimate a monthly payment from your own inputs. The calculation is illustrative and does not include lender-specific fees or guarantee the quoted result.
Check the lender's terms and your repayment plan
Read the written sanction or offer documents carefully. Confirm the lender's identity, loan amount, tenure, rate type, instalment dates, payment method, fees and consequences of missed payments. Ask the lender to explain anything unclear before accepting.
Consider whether the instalment fits your budget after regular expenses and existing commitments. Do not rely on an approval promise or a verbal estimate in place of the lender's written terms.
Share information carefully
